Warner mulls Harry Potter’s next adventure
With today marking the debut of the Harry Potter film series finale, Warner Bros. executives are confronted with the challenge of plotting out the next move for the massive Potter enterprise. For weeks, billboards promoting the finale of Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter film series, which opens today, have sought to lure viewers with the prospect that one of the most lucrative properties in Hollywood history is about to conclude, declaring: “It All Ends.”
But for Warner Bros., the task is now the opposite: make sure the business of Harry Potter doesn’t end, even without another blockbuster film in the works. That will take some magic.

“Ben 10″ to become feature film with Joel Silver’s backing
Joel Silver taking ‘Ben 10′ to bigscreen
Producer Joel Silver is working on a live-action, big-screen version of the Cartoon Network’s popular “Ben 10″ series. Silver, who may distribute the film via Warner Bros., discovered “Ben 10″ through his two young sons. “Ben 10″ is Cartoon Network’s top seller for electronic sales of video games and on-demand viewings, and also brands several toy lines. Variety (subscription required) (6/13)
“I think we have to try something fresh and go at it in a way that stays true to the original material,” Silver said. “I have a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old, so it’s somewhere between them.”
It’s not Silver’s first foray into kids’ action films, of course. “I tried to do (something similar) with ‘Speed Racer’ and failed miserably,” he said. “You always learn more from the ones that don’t work than the ones that do work.”
